2008 is set to be an absolutely fantastic year for Cardiff University, its current students, staff and alumni. This landmark year is packed with events that celebrate the past, present and future of our University.
A special anniversary website (www.cardiff.ac.uk/125/) has been created to keep everyone up to date with everything that is going on this anniversary year. There is an overwhelming sense of a Cardiff University community in the ‘My Cardiff’ section of the website. These personal memoirs of former students instil a personal sense of legacy.
In his online memoir, Cardiff Blues rugby player, Rob Sidoli remembers how he used to skip lectures in favour of the Trevithick refectory’s cooked breakfast. Whilst University President, Neil Kinnock, remembers ‘being daunted’ in the old University buildings which were ‘cold and echoing’.
Every student that has passed through the University, whether for 3 years or considerably longer periods is encouraged to write and share their memories.
This year is very special and will undoubtedly instill a real sense of pride amongst the student body.
