Students are being given the opportunity to broadcast footage of their sports teams to universities across the country.
This comes after the development of www.sub.tv, which allows university teams to upload and share videos of themselves to the entire screen network. This network consists of some 700 screens across 95 universities in the UK.
Sub.tv, which was founded in 2003, is the UK’s first user-generated broadcast TV network.
To promote its new service, the station has launched a ‘Get your team on the screen’ campaign in a bid to maximise participation.
John Inverdale, the British University Sports Association (BUSA) President who is personally endorsing the channel, said: “This is a fantastic development which will help to increase the rivalry between universities.”
This new development is also creating opportunities behind the camera.
Sub.tv has commissioned 60 student producers to film and edit sports footage every week, of which they are expecting over 20 hours.
