A member of Sheffield University’s Students’ Union council has been exposed as being a supporter of the BNP.
Students were deeply concerned about the revelation. The Women’s Officer Fiona Edwards called for all those threatened by the BNP – Black, Jewish, Muslim, Disabled, LGBT and women students to attend a student council meeting on Thursday 27 November, where the council member’s continued career would be discussed.
In a written statement, Fiona said: “We will make plans for a campaign to ensure students are given the opportunity to hold this individual accountable for his membership of a fascist organisation, and to ensure that our campus is a safe place for all our students.”
As gair rhydd goes to print the individual’s status in the Union is yet to be decided.

McCarthyism is alive and well.
Predictably the far left bully boys in Sheffield Uni are following the (Labour) party line and persecuting those they don’t agree with (whose party is increasingly taking votes from Labour).
Strange is it not that these fascists have no problem with Muslim extremists, IRA sympathisers or the many corrupt Labour politicians?
Is there anything really different between these intellectually-challenged student union fascists picking on a lone student and Hitler’s brownshirts’ victimisation of Jews?
Cowards the lot of ‘em!

Yes. Yes there is.

Gosh. One member of Sheffield University Students Union has been ‘exposed’ as patriotic and a proud citizen of Great Britain. What does that tell us about the other members? Hmmm….
5. Jamie
Any change of anyone managing a decent debate on this without either blindly condemning or supporting the BNP? No?

Wow, a lot of ill-informed people on this board. The Sheffield Union has numerous anti-fascist policies which, whether you agree with them or not, this BNP student has deemed to have broken. They claim the councillor would never have been elected had he been honest about his politics.
Comparing any students’ union to the SA is the most laughably ignorant thing I have ever heard.

Pete Menzies – It’s not often I say it but fuck up!
Do you actually think Sheffield Union student council is full of Labour students (and do you think Labour would even bother to get involved?) By all means have a rant about Labour but your argument loses all credibility when you start defending racists at the same time.
I’d love it too if you provided some examples of how the Sheffield Uni ‘fascists’ have “no problem with Muslim extremists, IRA sympathisers or the many corrupt Labour politicians”, but you’re obviously talkin out of your arse so I’ll not hold my breath. Bunching Muslim extremists in with IRA ‘sympathisers’ and then corrupt politicians(as if the Tories are all angels) is a bit ridiculous as well.
“Is there anything really different between these intellectually-challenged student union fascists picking on a lone student and Hitler’s brownshirts’ victimisation of Jews?”
You see, the big difference is that one amounts to a anti-racist campaign and the other caused millions of people to die. I’m wondering how you even manage to string a sentence together if you can’t see the contrast there…

Pete, usually I don’t bother with people like you but Thomas made quite an understatement when answering your question regarding Jews. So please let me explain :
Imagine that, after several years of overt discrimination and maybe some broken windows or bones, some peasants dressed-up in uniforms come into your house, beat you up, separate you from your children and wife and then put you in a cargo train to Disneyland. There, you do slave labour while being treated like a cockroach and by this time you might have heard that your kids have taken the magic ride to the soap factory. So by the time you’re kindly invited to take a warm shower ( with special aroma therapy candles of course ), you go gladly. Why is this happening ? Because some unemployed yobs need to supplement their ego.
Spot the difference.

I love Great Britain. We have a great diversity and rich culture. Since moving here in 1973 me, my wife and my five young children were given a six-bedroom house, with no bills or council tax to pay. My children are schooled well and we receive a generous amount of income support each month, meaning I haven’t had to work in 30 years.
It upsets me to hear the citizens of such a great country disputing minor political points such as these. Britain helps the needy in a way a no other country does.

Are BNP supporters quite so stupid that they think coming back again and again under different names and then posting as an immigrant who blatantly doesn’t exist is going to fool anyone?
11. Thomas Carroll
Whatever happened to the little symbol that came up beside your comments so we could tell if people were posting under different names?
12. Will
Why ? It was funny. He just forgot to mention his undying support for sharia law in Britain and his habit of wrapping baby seals in the union jack and then clubbing them to death.
I doubt “Saeed” expected anyone to believe that – on the contrary.
